Ever see someone in your feed and wonder how they got there? š Just me??
In case thatās you, then let this be my intro to you so you can decide if you want to follow or not! š
Iām Tanya – wife to my husband of over 20 years, mom of five, a doctor of physical therapy, pelvic health specialist, and business owner who works with women at my local clinic in rural Iowa and online through courses and my fitness membership.
If I were to meet you in person in my clinic, youād find me warm, inviting, and extroverted as I welcomed you into my space! But if I met you at a random event, Iām often the more introverted one in a big group setting. I love people and would love to get to know you, but Iād much rather do it 1-1 over coffee than at a networking event. š
If I want you to know one thing, itās this:
- Your body is created GOOD
- Your body is designed to HEAL
- And YOU CAN live an abundant, full life!
I donāt believe in saying, āThis is just the way it is.ā I donāt believe in settling for less than Godās best for you! I believe surgery and medicine should be last resorts, and when we actually LISTEN to the body and work on healing from the inside out, youād be amazed at what you are capable of! I believe in holistic health – your mental, emotional, and spiritual health are interconnected with the physical. You are a WHOLE person, and true healing comes when we recognize the lies that are holding us back.
Iāve been specializing in pelvic health for 12 years and have owned my own practice for 6 years. Iāve evolved over the past 6 years and found that almost all women WILL get better when theyāre given the tools and have the right mindset to do so.
If you believe youāre capable of healing and have the desire to do so, then letās get after it! My practice is patient-centered – fewer visits, longer appointment times, more touch points, and a preventative vs. treatment model that will set you up to NOT need me again, vs keeping you coming back every single week for months on end. Most of my patients average just 2-4 appointments TOTAL before reaching their goals.
Who do I see and what do I actually treat, you ask?
Iāve seen teens all the way to women in their 70s, and while I talk a lot about the prenatal/postpartum population, I see a LOT of women who are over 50 as well. Most of these women have had babies, but some have not – b/c guess what – itās still common to struggle with womenās health issues even if youāve never had a baby!
I work most commonly with women who struggle with low back/pelvic/hip pain, core weakness and ab separation, vaginal heaviness/prolapse, any amount of leaking, urgency or running to the bathroom all the time, painful intercourse, pelvic floor tightness, bowel and bladder issues, and women desiring to return to running, exercise, or simply wanting to start on a strength training program and who desire to know how to do so safely and effectively.
Pelvic health is often put into a small box, but if you are female, you probably could use a little help with your pelvic floor and core! š We often focus all our attention on the muscles we can easily see, but Iāve worked with strong crossfitters, collegiate athletes, and marathon runners whoāve greatly benefited from pelvic PT. Maybe we dealt with their pelvic floor, but most likely we also addressed form, posture, breathing, hip weakness, technique, and so much more.
If youāve struggled with repeated injury or chronic pain, you very well may benefit from the help of a pelvic PT. If youāve struggled with nagging hip issues that wonāt go away, you might benefit from a pelvic PT. If youāve been having knee pain with running, you might benefit from a pelvic PT.
While I LOVE seeing patients in my beautiful clinic in Orange City, IA, I also see patients virtually who arenāt local. I work with many women online through my two courses, Pelvic Core and Diastasis 101, and I lead women in my fitness membership, Refine Fitness. There are several ways to work with Refine and receive the help you need – I’ve laid them out here if you’d like more information.
While I love owning a business and serving women, a good chunk of my time is also spent my at home or watching my 5 kids enjoy the activities they love. With kids ages 7-16, we spend a a lot of our time in gyms or on a field somewhere watching whatever sport is in season! If I have any free time, I enjoy walking, reading, boating, baking, swimming, grabbing coffee with friends, or entertaining at my own home. I live a full and busy life, but Iām so thankful to have the energy and strength to do so.
I feel truly blessed that I get to say yes and participate in LIFE – that I donāt have to just sit on the sidelines, and I believe youāre made for this too! While we all have different goals and things we love, one thing I believe is that we are designed to MOVE, not just sit and watch. Be a FULL participant in this one life youāve been given, and letās cherish the moments weāre given!
