Over the past several months the Lord has reminded me of the Israelites wandering through the desert. God had this amazing promised land for them – He told them repeatedly that He was taking them there, He was going to make them into a great nation! But when they got close to the land and sent spies to check it out, they were horrified to find giants living in the land flowing with milk and honey.
The God of the Universe, the God who PROMISED THEM THIS LAND that was FOR them, the God who demonstrated no shortage of signs and wonders in Egypt – the God who allowed them to plunder the Egyptians on their way out, the God who parted the Red Sea and killed the pursuing Egyptian army in it, the God who made manna and quail fall from heaven and made water come from a rock…this is the God they doubted.
What happened? They rebelled against the Lord and that generation was left to wander the desert, never to see the Promised Land. Joshua and Caleb were the only ones who believed, and they were able to enter.
You guys…do you see how we stand facing giants? Financial uncertainty, health concerns or job security for ourselves and those we love … I certainly have had my moments of fear for the future. But the same God who parted the Red Sea, who has provided for my every need for the past 36 years…that’s my Dad. Has he ever let me fall? I don’t know about you, but I want to be a Joshua. I want to see the giants and say, “Let’s go!”
And now I say the same to you – the same God – your Father – He is a God of abundance! He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and yet fails not to clothe the flowers of the field. He wants to give you the land of milk and honey…a double portion…a great inheritance.
He will not be shaken, so you don’t have to either. Sit. Breathe. Be Still. Claim His Promises. For He who is Faithful will remain faithful. ❤️
