Truth: I used to think I had to be the smartest out there. The best at what I did. The one who knew all the research and remembered all the details from all the textbooks.
But the longer I lived, and as hard as I tried, I discovered there was always someone smarter. Someone with a better memory. Someone who seemed to know all the answers that I didn’t.
What I’ve learned over the past 4 years is that those aren’t the things you need to be successful.
I didn’t actually need to be the smartest.
Instead, I just needed to be committed…
To helping others
To grow
To stop judging and truly listen
To get curious
To not get too comfortable
To be ok with making mistakes that I’d learn from
To try new things even if I failed
To care deeply
To apologize when I messed up
To stop comparing to others and just be ME.
To know that there is more than one possible way
To stay in my lane and bless others who are great at what they do.
Turns out I’ll never be the smartest person in the room. There are some brilliant PTs out there doing amazing things. They know way more than I do. Still, God uses me anyway when I offer Him all I have. And I’ve gotten to see His healing over SO many women just b/c I said yes.
If you’ve been afraid to try something new, if you’ve thought it had to be perfect or you had to have all the answers before you started, if you thought you needed to know it all before you stepped into that role…well, I’m here to tell you that a messy step forward is better than no step at all.
25-year-old Tanya didn’t understand this. But 25-year-old Tanya never dreamed her life would look like this. If I stayed held back by my beliefs, I would never get to experience this goodness.
Trust God with your dreams. Let Him handle the results. Take your next step.
