The beginning of each summer is absolutely insane in my house. With 4 of my 5 kids in ball, we have anywhere from 12-15 games/week! We do some divide and conquer, but for the most part we try to get to as much as we can. Between games, camps, and trying to see some patients, 😉I feel a little like I’m running around with my head cut off! Because it’s so busy, I try REALLY hard to make some things as brainless as possible – including my clothing.
I sit outside in the sun at a lot of games, so here are my go-to summer favorites for easy clothing items that are comfortable and will keep you cool!
Tops:
- Athleta With Ease Tank – Super lightweight and easy to wear – does not cling and has a flattering drape. I have this in a couple of colors in both a tank and their short-sleeve version as well.
- Athleta In Motion Seamless Tank: – The color options right now are basic, but this one has been around awhile and they change the colors seasonly. I wear it for workouts and anything casual in the summer! It’s super breathable and not too clingy. I wear my normal size.
- Lululemon Love Tank – This is one of my favorite tanks for everyday. I don’t wear it as much for workouts, though I will wear it often for walks. Otherwise, I love this tank for ball games and anything I’m doing outside! Again, this has a nice, easy drape – I order my normal size. If you’d want it more fitted, I’d size down.
Shorts:
- Lululemon hotty hot shorts (long edition) – My daughter wears the shorter version of these, but I love the 4” inseam. They are super comfortable, though I do recommend sizing up if you like your shorts loose. I consider them more of a mid-rise than a high-rise.
- Athleta: Mesh Racer High Rise Short:– For me, this is it. If you want a new pair of shorts, get these! I have 3 pairs in black b/c I literally wear them SO much! I wear them for working out, but I also literally wear them for everything else, too. 🙈Running errands, cleaning the house, sitting at ball games, pretty much any summer time activity besides seeing patients and going to church! 😂 I know it says 3 inch and that might seem short, but they feel like 4”+ to me!
- Athleta SeaSoft Mid Rise Short: – These are in my cart, but I have not yet purchased them. However, I have the seasoft pants and sweatshirt, so I can speak to the material of these shorts. It’s extremely soft, stretchy, and relatively thin – perfect for summer. I’m planning to get the black ones and they’re on sale right now!
- Athleta Midday Midrise Short:– These shorts are lightweight and move with you. I’m honestly not a big fan of jean shorts in super hot weather – they’re heavy and stick to you. These, on the other hand look a little nicer than athletic shorts, but are so much better for hot weather. They’re also on sale right now!
Shoes:
- Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle – Say what you want about Birkenstocks, but they are a functional sandal. I have had these in white for 3 years now, and they’re still going strong. They are pricier, but white goes with everything. I like this bottom vs. the corkbed b/c sweat/water etc wipe off easily, and I can walk in them all day without my feet getting sore. They may not be the cutest, but they work.
- On Cloudnova Form 2 – On the other hand, if I need a basic running around shoe (that I could also potentially do a quick workout in or go for a walk), this has been my fav the past year. If you’re worried about white, they wash up well!
Other:
- 32 oz Hydrojug – :For on-the-go hydration, this has become my favorite water bottle lately. Of course, my teen daughter introduced me to them. We went from Stanley’s to Owalas and now to this. 😉 I still love my Owala, but I feel like Hydrojug combines the best things about Stanley and Owala and puts them all in one amazing water bottle. Does NOT leak, has a straw, is easy to drink out of, and of course comes in lots of cute colors. 😉
- Athleta cap – You will often find me with a ball cap on in the summer, first, to protect my face, and second, b/c I’m probably rocking some greasy hair underneath and it’s going to allow me to finish the day before needing to wash it again! When I’m doing workouts or walking at weird times of the day, I don’t always have time for a shower immediately. Unless I’m really gross, I’ll quickly put on some deodorant, clean clothes, a hat, and I’m good to go until the end of the night!
- Varley Belt Bag – There are lots of great belt bags out there, I’m sure. I haven’t researched a bunch, so I’m just giving you what I know and like! I got this exact Varley belt bag 3 years ago and I still use it on the daily. I feel like it’s the perfect size for my wallet, keys, sunglasses, and chapstick or a little bottle of sunscreen. Keep in mind – my kids are no longer little – so when we go to games, they can carry their own bag of stuff! But this is the perfect size for my essentials when I don’t want to carry around a purse.
- Calpak Insulated Soft-Sided Cooler – If one of my kids has a double header or we’re going from one kid’s game to the next, we need to take sandwiches on the road. This cooler is a nice size to throw in some sandwiches and drinks, and looks cute too. 😉
