Do you NOT have enough time to work out, or is it just not a priority? 😬
This is NOT meant to shame you! But I like to be honest with myself, especially when I feel like I “don’t have enough time.”
I’ve never worked with a mom who said…
“I’m not super busy right now.”
Or, “I have tons of time to do these exercises… I’ll easily get them done.”
Every woman I work with is super busy. Our busyness may look different, but ultimately, we all have the same 24 hours/day. Rather than saying, “I’m just too busy,” I think it’s more honest to say, “It’s just not a priority right now.”
Maybe right now, you’re in survival mode with a newborn, and your priorities are sleep and keeping a baby alive – those are GOOD priorities!
Maybe your priorities are getting a business off the ground.
Maybe you are going through something really hard right now and are not in a place where you have the bandwidth to move your body.
That’s ok. It’s not a priority right now and there is absolutely no shame in getting real with where you’re at.
But for some of us, saying it’s not a priority right now might mean that we need to analyze what our priorities are currently. How ARE we actually spending those 1440 minutes we have each day?
This is an insanely busy season for me personally. Life is always busy, but for the past 3 weeks, my husband has been working 16 hr days, 6 days/week. I’m single parenting 5 kids while running a business and getting said children to soccer, track, and baseball, among all the other school things, plus all the household duties, meals, laundry, etc.
I was struggling to get my workout in, and I needed to ask myself these things:
1. What are my non-negotiables that I NEED to do this well?
2. If working out is one of them (for me, it is), then how am I making this a TOP priority each day over all the things I’m currently doing?
3. How can I creatively plan to fit this in if I need it to function at a high level?
Would you like to see the system I used to figure this out? I’d love to share if it will help someone else! Systems aren’t for everyone, but they bring order to chaos and help us live proactively vs. reactively. Grab it here, and I’d be happy to share it with you!
