FIVE LIES I’m constantly having to talk about with my patients. Do you need to hear this too?
A. Pain with sex is NEVER normal and there are lots of things pelvic PT can do to help you!
B. Leaking is common, but it doesn’t have to be your normal. I’ve seen SO MANY women overcome this issue, and it’s not as hard as you think it might be!
C. For mild-moderate prolapse, pelvic floor physical therapy is the BEST first-line treatment, proven in research!
D. Urgency isn’t “just a part” of getting older. The brain can be trained!! I’ve seen lots of women make HUGE strides with urgency – even those in their 50’s – 60’s!
E. I really hate all the fitness lies around liquid intake that are not based on legit research. Our bodies indeed benefit from hydration! But this has been blown out of proportion and is contributing to many women’s urgency and incontinence issues.
