Who still thinks that ab exercises looks like crunches on the floor? 🤷🏼♀️
I *think* we are past the days when core exercise meant laying on the floor doing 5 min of various crunches! Not that crunches are terrible, but I prefer to get my core exercise in a variety of ways, including functional exercise, balance, and full-body movement.
Here are THREE core AND hip exercises to try this week that will get you thinking outside the box. Notice how I start a little rough and improve over a few tries? Our bodies and BRAINS are amazing as they quickly learn to adapt and adjust to help us move better!
1. Single-leg Hip Opener in Bent over position- the opening in this position is a challenge! (I didn’t even tape my first few tries 😆.)
2. Single-Leg Squat with Toe Reach. Reach as far as you can to the back corner without letting your foot touch the ground!
3. Hip Opener/Closer with Trunk Rotation. Don’t let this one fool you! You will most definitely feel it in your abs if you use some weight and move with control.
With ALL three, your goal is to move SLOW and controlled! We get our best work in when we slow it down vs. letting momentum and gravity get in the way!
Do you want to learn how to incorporate your core into full-body movement and ditch the crunches on the floor? Then you NEED to join us for the accountability challenges in my Level-Up membership!
We’ll get stronger in 15-20 min/day, learn some healthy habits, and more importantly, learn how to train our minds so movement becomes a part of our lifestyle for years to come.
