One Business – THREE locations:

Answering some FAQs for you this morning on Refine’s 3 locations and how to know which one might be right for you!

Geographical location may be the primary factor in deciding where to come and see me, which makes logical sense! In the past 7 years, I have served women from Le Mars, Sioux City, Cherokee, Orange City, Sioux Center, Ireton, Hawarden, Sanborn, Hartley, Boyden, Hull, Rock Valley, Sioux Falls, Luvern, Edgerton, Des Moines, and beyond!

  1. Flourish Wellness and Birth Co in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2023, I actually spent a couple of months at Flourish seeing patients. At that time in my life, with my kids being younger, this ended up being more challenging than I expected. In addition, the licensing organization changed some things, which meant I needed to get in a bunch of extra con-ed over a Christmas break and it just seemed like God was saying, “now is not the right time.” I’m very excited that He brought this partnership back around again, and I’m thankful to be partnering with incredible providers who have done amazing things for women in the Sioux Falls area and beyond!
  2. Morning Glory Birth and Wellness – Kari and I have had a relationship for many years now as we’ve supported each other’s work, and I was THRILLED when she announced she was opening up her own practice in Hull! I immediately reached out to see if we could partner to serve women together, and I’m so thankful to be an additional service for women under her roof! Not only is she serving the prenatal and postpartum population, but she is also offering holistic health services as a functional medicine provider and sees a lot of women for hormone help and pre- and post-menopause. I really appreciate her kind, gentle spirit and the team that surrounds her.
  3. Rowenhuis – our gym located between Orange City and Sioux Center – if you want a more casual, relaxed atmosphere that feels more like your cozy home rather than a clinic space, and/OR you have interest in returning to running, CrossFit, heavy lifting, playing volleyball/basketball/pickleball, this would be a great location for you! We have lots of room to move and great equipment. In addition, I’ll also be offering strength training sessions. This is like personal training but with my PT spin. So many women don’t know how to lift well, and the biggest epidemic right now is the loss of muscle as women age, which is now only enhanced by the use of GLP-1s. It’s absolutely essential that we keep muscle on our bodies to maintain health and function as we age, and so I’m offering strength-building sessions 1-1, or you can sign up with a group. These 45-minute sessions will teach you how to lift correctly, and we’ll develop a personal strength-training plan you can continue at home!

Other questions:

  • Do I have to be a patient of Morning Glory or Flourish to see you at these locations?
    • No, definitely not! Please come and see me there regardless of where you are receiving care! If the location works well for you, that’s perfect!
  • What if I’d like to see you first in a clinic setting but I’d also like to work with you at your gym?
    • You can see me at multiple locations. Maybe you want to start out at MG but then transition to a couple of gym appts later – that’s great!
  • Can I see you even if I plan to deliver at a hospital with an OB?
    • Absolutely! While I love midwives and the care they provide, you can still come see me for care and/or an OB package even if you plan to deliver at a hospital. My goal is always to help you have the best birth experience possible, regardless of how you give birth. I really enjoy supporting women regardless of their birth plans, because every woman, from planned C-sections to home births, can benefit from the prenatal and postpartum help of a pelvic PT. 🙂
  • Do you only see women for pelvic health issues?
    • No, I see women for hip and back pain, generalized weakness, and women who want to return to running/heavy lifting but don’t know how to get there safely. I’ve worked with a variety of high school and college athletes, and I’ve also treated foot, knee, and shoulder pain. I only work with females — sorry!. 😉 Now, if you’ve had an ACL or rotator cuff repair, if you have a child with incontinence issues, or if you have a complicated diagnosis unrelated to pelvic health that will require extensive PT, I’m probably not the right fit for you, and I’m happy to direct you to some of the amazing PTs in our area. I know my lane, and I stay in it because I want you to have the best person helping you, so you aren’t wasting time or money, and you get the best result.
  • I’m not sure if pelvic PT is right for me. What are some common things you see women for?
    1. Any amount of urinary leaking – from drops to needing to change a pad multiple times/day – no amount is “normal,” and it is very treatable!
    2. Vaginal heaviness or pressure – aka prolapse
    3. Diastasis or “abdominal muscle separation” from pregnancy
    4. Generalized core weakness
    5. Low back and pelvic pain
    6. Sciatica
    7. Hip/buttock/tailbone pain
    8. Pain/difficulty with intercourse
    9. Urgency/Frequency – running to the bathroom all the time
    10. Constipation or bowel leaking
    11. Preventative care prenatally
    12. Labor and delivery prep
    13. Postpartum recovery
  • Are you going to continue offering your Faith + Fitness classes?
    • I’m hopeful I will! But I also know my limits, and I know it’s important to transition well and avoid overcommitting in this season. I’m going to take a break from fitness classes through 2026 and then see what 2027 brings! However, we continue to offer these classes through Refine Fitness online! This is a great way to enjoy the benefits of our faith + fitness classes from the comfort of your home, at the time of day that works best for you!
